Are you looking to grow your business? Would you like to be part of a friendly, supportive networking group, whose members share and understand the joys and challenges of running a business?
Then welcome to BusinessWise.
We are a business referral group where we network, we get to know each other, and we take the time to learn about our different sectors and businesses. This enables us to pass on qualified and legitimate leads and referrals. We find by operating in this way that referrals are made quite naturally and with confidence that an excellent product or service will be delivered.
We meet fortnightly and welcome committed, caring and confident business owners based in Swindon, North Wiltshire and nearby.
We do have a single seat policy within the group which means no member will compete with an existing member. Several of our members have been with us for a number of years, because BusinessWise is an essential part of their marketing and business development.
We are proactive within the group, we engage in group marketing activities, we take part in business events, and we also organise social events so that we get to know each other outside of a work environment.
And new for 2024, we are launching a BusinessWise podcast with the tagline ‘The Voice of Business Networking in Swindon’, and as a member you’ll get the chance to participate.
Not for profit
What does that mean?
As a not-for-profit organisation, our annual membership fee and our monthly fees pay for our fortnightly breakfast meetings, our marketing activity – including the podcast – and our participation in events or to fund events under our own banner.
Our aim is that we keep these extra events very low cost for members or even free if funds allow.
Charity
What do we give back?
Giving back is a very important element of Businesswise, and we always have a charitable seat which is funded by other members to support the third sector in our community.
That seat has been held for several years by charity representative Dawn Prosser, who works across the local charities Swindon Night Shelter & Renew CIC.
Not only is this seat gifted to our charitable member, we proactively support both organisations by offering services in kind, donating cash for specific causes and we also have an annual cash collection for the Swindon Christmas Toy Appeal.
To date we have donated well over £25,000 to support our charity partner.

Are we the right fit?
At BusinessWise, we believe relationships are at the heart of a good business. You have to feel confident we are the right ‘fit’ for you and vice versa.
So, we offer all visitors their first visit free of charge, then an opportunity to come back for a second visit, this time with the meeting fee payable. This gives you an opportunity to take a little time before making a decision about joining. To book your free first visit please contact us.
Please note, however, that you cannot visit as a potential member if your ‘seat’ is already taken by an existing member.

Where do we meet?
We meet fortnightly on a Friday morning at Basset Down Complex, Lower Salthrop, Swindon, SN4 9QW.
Coffee is served from 6.30am and the meeting starts at 7am. We then go into the formal part of our meeting which includes a 60 second round table, two presentations from among the members, up to three 1-2-1s and then a referral round. The meeting ends at around 8.45am, but members and visitors are welcome to continue networking in the lounge area.

What’s the investment?
From January 2024, our membership fee is £250 in year one, then £150 per year on renewal, per seat.
The currently monthly cost, to be paid by direct debit or standing order, is £40. Please be aware, should you leave the group at any time there will be no refund of the membership fee.
There are many different types of business referral groups in Swindon, offering a variety of opportunities, meeting at different times of the day and on different days of the week.
How do you know which one is right for you?
Well, you don’t. You’ve just got to try them out and see which one you feel you have a rapport with, which shares your values and which will provide the right level of support and growth opportunities for your business.
